But there\u2019s a major hurdle most people don\u2019t see: developers face big legal risks when building condos. Instead of being able to fix issues as they come up, many end up in court battles before they even get the chance, pushing builders to focus on apartments instead of for-sale condos.<\/p>\n<p>A new bill aims to change that with a right-to-repair process. This would allow builders to address defects before legal claims kick in, while still protecting homeowners\u2019 rights. Supporters believe this could open up more opportunities for starter ownership and dovetail with efforts to make home buying more accessible\u2014something I care deeply about for our Gilroy community.
